The Tatsumaki Clan (竜巻一族, Tatsumaki Ichizoku) is a clan found in Kirigakure. They are highly skilled in Wind Release and Taijutsu. This clan was once considered the mortal enemy of the Yuki and Kazan clans, but after the Fourth Shinobi World War, relations between the clans improved dramatically.

Traditions

During the Waring States Era, the Tatsumaki clan had close ties with the Hōzuki clan and male members of the Tatsumaki clan tend to marry members of the Hōzuki clan. However they were bitter enemies of the Yuki clan and Kazan clan. This rivalry did not stop even after the founding of Kirigakure. By the time that those with Kekkei Genkai were being persecuted, the Tatsumaki clan became notorious for murdering the members of the Yuki and Hikage clans. This hatred even continues to the modern day, though it is not as bad as it once was. Instead of just killing for no reason, members of the Tatsumaki clan will just try to find an excuse to kill those with Kekkei Genkai, such as "self defense" or "mercy deaths".

Female members of the Tatsumaki clan tend to do far less than the male members do to the clan practicing Primogeniture, this is especially done with the head of the clan. Usually female members are restricted to working in the household or being married off to secure an alliance with another clan. Though rare, it is not unheard of for female members to become kunoichi if there are no male siblings, such as the case with Illia Tatsumaki.

Following the Fourth Shinobi World War, the clan began to discontinue some of their old traditions, with some members even turning themselves in for previous murders that they committed against those with kekkei genkai. Also after the war, many members of the clan began sending their daughters to the academy, a practice which was once considered rare for the clan.
