Mitsuru Fukushima (福島満, Fukushima Mitsuru) is a kunoichi of Konohagakure. She is the eldest child and only daughter of Haru and Nobuyuki Fukushima and a descendant of the Watanabe clan. In the Suzuhime Hideout, she uses her alias Itsuki Watanabe (渡辺一姫, Watanabe Itsuki), and Luna (ルナ, Runa) during her position as Moonlight Paradise’s leader.

Background[]

Mitsuru was born in Nobuyuki’s private home in the middle of the forest. Haru had challenged Nobuyuki to a fight in an attempt to escape being imprisoned by Nobuyuki and won. Nobuyuki kept custody of Mitsuru while Haru left the two. Months later, Nobuyuki rescues Haru from the survivors of Shinkaku, and Haru agrees to marry Nobuyuki, and the three return to Konoha.

Soon after arriving in Konoha, Mitsuru receives a younger brother named Touma. Four years later, her second brother Saiji is born, and five years later, her youngest brother Arata is born.

As a child, Haru often spent time with his close friends and teammates Rika Kobayashi and Ko Yano who also brought their children, Tohru Kobayashi and Miyuki Yamazaki. Mitsuru, Tohru, and Miyuki have also bonded close like their parents. Mitsuru and Tohru are shown to be close, especially in private. Mitsuru feels that she can trust Tohru to slowly reveal her true self. Mitsuru displays hints of romantic feelings towards Tohru and considers him as someone she wants to protect, but due to her lying facade, it is unknown if she really feels this way. It is shown that Tohru is often caught off guard by her childish behavior. Mitsuru began to adopt Miyuki’s cheerful behavior and claims that they are best friends. It is difficult to determine whether Mitsuru actually cared about Miyuki.

Mitsuru is often shown to have multiple playdates with many kids. She also enjoys tea parties, dressing up and venturing out by herself. Her room is littered with stationery, stuffed animals, dolls, makeup, and jewelry that she has hoarded. Mitsuru also enjoys dressing her brothers as butlers and involving them in her playdates.

Months after Mitsuru enters the Academy, Nobuyuki takes Mitsuru to the Watanabe residence for assassination training where she goes by the pseudonym Itsuki Watanabe. She quickly becomes a talented assassin and gains a reputation for being merciless but reliable. Mitsuru is also warned to separate her techniques between being a Fukushima and a Watanabe. This is because Suzuhime assassins belong to a neutral party and are not involved with the Shinobi Union.

Mitsuru is shown to be on good terms with her clan members, even Natsuki, despite Natsuki and Haru’s relationship. Mitsuru is aware of Natsuki’s poor communication skills but continues to spend time with him. Natsuki is sometimes frightened by Mitsuru’s behavior.

Personality[]

Mitsuru is childish, playful, sweet, innocent, naive, and spoiled. She inherits many of her mannerisms from Nobuyuki such as giggling at the end of her sentences and using childish onomatopoeia. She likes to reference fairy tales and often dreams of living in them to the point where she later begins to fabricate her life into one. Her very moe and doll-like persona create an image of a “child.”

During much of her childhood, Mitsuru spent most of her time constantly studying or training. In addition to this, she develops a superiority complex for also having a background in assassination training. Given everything she wanted since birth, Mitsuru is naturally spoiled. The Fukushima clan is still distant towards Haru, so they attempt to have little involvement in her antics such as giving her own room (although initially requested by Nobuyuki) and baking sweets for her tea parties. Meanwhile, the Watanabe clan gives her a large amount of control and power where other assassins would follow her orders without hesitation and even pin her as the princess since she has the most natural personality of a ruler with confidence and certainty. Even at a very young age, Mitsuru has natural leadership qualities and excellent communication skills.

However inside, Mitsuru is shown to be envious, rude, and dismissive towards others and even herself. She is self-centered, manipulative, calculating, and extremely arrogant. She had a subtle but sweet way of making people do what she wanted and harbors jealousy over those who are more skilled than her. She wants to be the strongest and most respected kunoichi that she wouldn’t mind hindering and even sabotaging others to make sure she is ahead. Growing up, she was often pressured by Haru to excel in all subjects, causing her to develop an obsessive need to be superior. Even being defeated by Satoshi and rescued by Touma and Shinobu, she doesn't express guilt for her actions and is instead disappointed in her own sloppy work that caused her to get caught. In addition, her temper is shown to be quite unstable. Most times when angered, Mitsuru keeps a calm and gentle expression on her face. Initially, she smiles and even comforts whomever she is facing to keep her innocent and naive facade, but when pushed too far, she begins to insult and mock them while keeping her smile. Behind closed doors, she becomes violent and tends to smash everything apart. She also has a strong desire for revenge and torture when others have disappointed, wronged, or treated her badly. As Mitsuru continues using her Nisekissui, she develops an even shorter temper, which makes her noticeably destructive at times, such as destroying the surrounding area when she aims for her targets. She's also confident of her own abilities, openly confronting her assigned enemies.

She will stop at nothing to make sure that her vengeance is accomplished, even abusing her power to get her way. Although raised as an assassin, Mitsuru was never taught to abandon her emotions. Instead, she becomes corrupted and malevolent where she’d hurt, kill, and torture others as well as animals for fun. Those who know her real nature describe her as a “child of pure evil.”

Entering the Academy, Mitsuru befriends troublemakers Moka and Nuriha who overtime encouraged Mitsuru to bully others and get into trouble. She grew addicted to lying, spreading rumors, and creating chaos for her enjoyment. She creates a mischievous but childish persona, largely inspired by Miyuki who is often optimistic and cheerful, to convey her cute attitude while also giving leeway to acting rude and immoral without any dire consequences. Despite using a façade to hide her true intentions, Mitsuru’s real personality is heavily implied to be naturally very child-like.

Her biggest but unnoticeable trait is her lying. She likes to gossip and learn information about others and mettle in their lives. Disguised as befriending others, she uses them to push people’s buttons, spread rumors, and blackmail for favors. She remains consistent and is incredibly intelligent in forming her lies which makes her very unlikely to get caught, as shown when she successfully escapes Konoha's prison using a fake alibi. The reason for this behavior is unknown. It is often shown that she has lied to nearly everyone she has spoken to. Nobuyuki and Touma can easily detect her lies, while Haru seems to be aware but indifferent. Due to Haru’s distant nature, Mitsuru wants to be honest towards him but couldn’t bring herself to do so as she lies to keep Haru happy with her progress. Mitsuru reveals to Haru that she chooses not to lie to Saiji or Arata until they understand that she is not always truthful. Because of this, it is difficult to determine how she really feels. It is possible that she doesn’t care about anyone, even her family, such as pinning Shinobu as the real Itsuki and blaming the creation and acts of Moonlight Paradise on her. Since she is portrayed as a constant liar, many of her words and actions, and even her thoughts, may not display her real intent. She is shown to genuinely care for her family by going out of her way to help Haru out of his depression and protecting her brothers. However, it also conflicts with her attempts to kill and guilt-trip her brothers into doing favors for her. Due to her excessive manipulation and little care for others, she could also have little empathy.

Mitsuru is also quite perceptive, being able to read others and seeing through lies and tricks. Yet, she doesn’t always make her observations apparent and enjoys playing along with their lies seeing how far she can go. She is also highly intelligent, capable of manipulating others’ feelings and piecing together ideas to devise an impenetrable plan.

Observing Haru’s actions, Mitsuru learns to use others for her own benefit. Due to this mindset, she even believes that Haru only used her for his own needs but fails to see that he does genuinely care for her. She sees herself as higher due to her superior intellect from intense training and nonstop work. She appears to only show appreciation when others have done large favors for her, such as Hisato's addition of FORM 020 to his Nisekissui and Saki’s repairing of Mitsuru’s Shinobi Ware prosthetics. She attempts to avoid getting attached so she can manipulate and betray others to maintain her position above them, which also contributes to her lack of trust towards others. As a result, she ends up burying and abandoning her feelings if they conflict with her goals. Her impression of failure to live up to Haru’s expectations and Nobuyuki’s death take a massive toll on Mitsuru's need for affection and love. Relying only on herself, she often feels lonely and attempts to find her "prince" to give her a happy fairytale ending. After getting arrested by the ANBU as Itsuki, Mitsuru came to the realization that her dreams were continuously destroying her social relationships and killing everyone she loved. She felt conflicted about whether to continue her journey for power and become the “evil witch” or give up her dream and stay as the “princess” who reaches the “happy ending.” Although realizing that Hisato might’ve been her "true prince,” Mitsuru believed that dragging the amnesiac Hisato back to Moonlight Paradise wouldn't give her a true happy ending and decided to let him go. Although aware of her own selfish faults, she continues to let herself suffer from the consequences of aiming for power alone and accepts that she’s no longer redeemable as a good person.

On the other hand, Itsuki appears as many different personas such as mature, level-headed, provocative, erotic, sadistic, ditzy, serious, and cold. Despite having an inconsistent persona, her voice remains the same: deeper, less airy, and less childish compared to Mitsuru’s.

During her involvement with Moonlight Paradise, "Luna" is conveyed as a "spoiled princess" persona. She desires money, land, and power which will give her the components for creating her own kingdom. She appears to care about her followers' well-being and takes measures to make them feel at home. However, she could've also only been compassionate because they followed her orders. Towards her enemies, she is ruthless, sadistic, and enjoys giving inhumane treatments to her captives.

Appearance[]

Mitsuru is shown to have a pale complexion and petite figure. She has brown hair and purple eyes. She has three moles: one behind her right ear and two on her back.

Becoming a Genin, Mitsuru appears in a white shirt with pink sleeves, dark grey shorts, bandages around her calves, and black sandals. She has short hair, and her bangs are slightly parted in the middle. She also carries a pouch on her right hip. She has short hair and a braid around her head. Her forehead protector is seen around her neck. It is hinted that unlike many of the Fukushima clan members, she doesn’t place her forehead protector closer to her body because she doesn’t feel like she is a “true and loyal” Konoha kunoichi.

As a Watanabe assassin, Mitsuru wears a black vest over a white bandeau with pink accents, black shorts, white arm sleeves, grey knee-high socks, and black boots. Her hair often appears in various colors and many hairstyles. She also appears in the Watanabe’s signature masks, a cloth mask covering the lower half of her face over a full face porcelain mask. She is seen wearing this during the creation of Moonlight Paradise.

During the Cinderella Arc, ?

Participating in the Sunagakure Chunin Exams as a Tanigakure ninja and stealing Kumogakure’s diamond during Jack and the Beanstalk Arc, Itsuki wears a black sweater attached to a mask with purple bows on the sleeves, a purple vest, black bodysuit, a grey bodysuit, a dark purple skirt, a dagger pouch attached to a grey belt, and thigh-high black heeled boots. Her hair is pink and tied in a high ponytail, and she wears brown contacts.

As a Chunin, Mitsuru dresses in a white sleeveless turtleneck midriff, pink sleeves, black fingerless gloves, white shorts, fishnet leggings, and black heeled boots. Her hair is tied with twin braids across her head, and her bangs are brushed slightly to the right side of her face.

Abilities[]

Mitsuru is an extremely talented kunoichi. She has large amounts of stamina but is the weakest with genjutsu. She is highly intelligent and easily picks up skills, which made her an exceptional student. She also is seen training with several mentors and even joining her friend's training sessions.

Chakra and Physical Prowess[]

As a Fukushima, Mitsuru is born with large chakra reserves, which contributed to her high stamina levels. Because of this, she is capable of fighting for long periods of time. Her chakra recovery is also quicker than the average ninja and allows her to use multiple techniques without fatigue.

Ninjutsu[]

Mitsuru primarily uses Water and Wind Release. After becoming an assassin, she is forced to learn  Lightning, Earth, and Explosion Release as Itsuki. She masters the rest of the nature types after Haru replaces her left arm with Shinobi Ware after Mitsuru's Academy graduation. She also learned from Hikaru how to create mock techniques by observing and mimicking chakra flow.

Genjutsu[]

As a student, Mitsuru had already mastered basic genjutsu techniques through her Kekkei Genkai training. After becoming a Genin, it became the least prioritized skill. However, she utilized genjutsu to brainwash others into joining Moonlight Paradise.

Taijutsu[]

Mitsuru is noted to be very flexible, nimble, and fast with very accurate and precise movements. Although she isn't shown to have any prominent muscles, she is physically very strong due to her constant violent outbursts and tantrums. Mitsuru prefers to mainly use brute and heavy force, while Itsuki tends to use multiple swift attacks.

Weapon Control[]

Mitsuru learned and practiced how to use nearly every common weapon. She tends to favor bigger weapons that cause large amounts of damage.

Sealing[]

As a child, Mitsuru had the most trouble with sealing. She scored the lowest in sealing techniques on the Academy Graduation exam. She constantly practices sealing items in her room and manages to master this skill before the Chunin Exams.

Intelligence[]

Mitsuru is shown to be highly intelligent. She has a strong memory and observational skills.

Medical ninjutsu[]

Mitsuru had studied medical ninjutsu but has no training to heal and extract poisons.

Nisekissui[]

Mitsuru acquires a genetic version of Haru's Nisekissui. Haru initially designed it for an enhancement in strength, agility, speed, and brain function. It also has no blind spots and nullifies any pain sensations. Mitsuru later revamps it for nullifying, disabling, absorbing or relapsing techniques.

Body Modifications[]

Unlocking her first transformation, Mitsuru develops black scleras with red X's and grey markings on her neck and shoulders. She is unable to control its activation and deactivation which makes its usage unpredictable. However, it is shown to often appear when Mitsuru is stressed, overwhelmed, or angry. She gains the ability to sleep for two hours and become fully rested, allowing her to train and run missions during the dead of the night. A noticeable side effect of the Nisekissui is developing hallucinations, but she isn't affected by it since she was aware of its nature. She unlocks it after a rage episode caused by her grades dropping due to Nobuyuki's death.

During her second transformation, she grows mutated claws on her left hand, sharp teeth, and glowing eyes, in addition to her physical attributes from her first form. She is able to control its activation but cannot deactivate it until her stressors are resolved. Her claws become linked to her Himomai and are able to absorb chakra through her fingernails. The Himomai is also mutated and causes her targets to fall into a genjutsu that allows her to control their senses and movements in the real world. Mitsuru also began altering her Nisekissui to nullify and disable attacks by dispersing them. However, she is more prone to fits of rage and develops a larger impulse to kill and create bloodshed. She acquires this form during her battle with Nanami during the Pinocchio Arc.

Kekkei Genkai[]

Himomai (紐舞, lit. Knot Dance) is the Fukushima clan’s Kekkei Genkai. Members of the Fukushima clan are born with compact discs that act as secondary chakra reserves. Therefore, the clan typically has more chakra than the usual shinobi. These discs can be closed off from the user’s chakra pathway system so that if the primary chakra stream has been disrupted, the user is still able to use a backup supply. However, the chakra in the discs is much slower to recover so there is a limited amount that they can carry. They can absorb any jutsu but only release genjutsu or completely dissolve its chakra into the user’s system. This technique requires advanced control and excessive chakra buildup toward the wrists. If normal shinobi attempt to transfer large amounts of chakra into the wrists, the buildup will cause immobility to their hands. Another technique must be mastered, but the details are currently unknown. Some members have undergone surgical modifications to alter their abilities such as absorbing environmental energy, manipulation of regular chakra strings into complex designs, and vast chakra absorption that may result in the death of the target.

New Era[]

Beauty and the Beast Arc[]

During the Academy, Mitsuru often hung with other girls. She spends most of her time with Moka and Nuriha, but she also occasionally is seen with many other classmates as well as students from other classes. Mitsuru is known for being childish but extremely friendly. However, over time, she slowly develops a bullying attitude but acts like a good person on the outside.

Nobuyuki's Death and Nisekissui Arc[]

Shortly before Arata’s birth, Nobuyuki prepares to carry out a final mission before staying home and taking care of Haru. Mitsuru runs up to the two and asks Nobuyuki to steal an Enchanted Doll for her birthday gift. The following day, the family receives news that Nobuyuki had been killed during a mission due to the confusion that Nobuyuki also had the Nisekissui. Haru grows hysterical before he breaks down sobbing. Nobuyuki was targeting master criminal Matsuo who barely survived and escaped. Mitsuru became anxious as she watched Haru grow increasingly distant and impatient. Returning to her room, she sobs heavily over the death of her father due to her selfish request.

Haru refused to leave his room several days after Nobuyuki’s death. Mitsuru occasionally peaks into and sneaks into a vent above Haru’s room to observe her father who mostly remains silent lying on his bed. She and Touma bring him food which is then often left untouched. After a week, Mitsuru storms in and forces Haru to sit up and eat while she feeds him. Mitsuru and Touma would often visit Haru to keep him company to which Haru tells much about his past with Nobuyuki.

Later while cleaning her room, Mitsuru discovers a scroll wedged under her bed. She attempts to summon the mysterious scroll revealing several letters written by Nobuyuki.

“Mitsuru, I hate seeing you so unhappy when you compare yourself to others. There’s nothing more horrible seeing you miserable. You’re much better than you think. You’re meant to take your place as a princess ruling above all others. One day, you’ll get that happy ending you’ve always dreamed of, but I just hope that you’re happy with yourself. Are you happy? Would you tell me? Someday, will you tell me the truth? With all the love in the world, Daddy”

Mitsuru erratically shows the letters to Haru who froze causing him to drop his letter. Mitsuru picks up the letter and attempts to read it, but Haru steals it back from her before she could and thanks her. Mitsuru smiles as she watches Haru retreat to his lab. She turns around and wonders when she would give her brothers their letters.

Fathers day haru mitsuru

Haru convinces Mitsuru to use her Nisekissui to become powerful

Returning home after falling from 2nd to 6th ranking in her class, Mitsuru storms into her room enraged. She pushes the stuffed toys off her dresser and screams. Haru bursts into the room worried before he freezes and is shocked by her “Nisekissui” transformation. Mitsuru points out that she has never seen Haru expressive since Nobuyuki’s death. She also deciphers that Haru is hesitant in forcing Mitsuru to be his “successor,” but she reassures Haru that she has similar goals as him for power. Haru adopts a stray cat named Yori to assist with his work.

Three Little Pigs Arc[]

Mitsuru befriends Ran and Keigo from the class next door. Mitsuru gave the impression that she likes Keigo, much to Ran’s dismay. Annoyed by Mitsuru’s presence, Ran bullies Mitsuru by spreading rumors that Nobuyuki was a traitor to Konoha and trained Mitsuru to turn against the village. Mitsuru is later taken to be interrogated but was deemed innocent concluding that it was a false claim. Returning to class the next day, Ran announces that she had been dating Keigo for several months, and Mitsuru figures out that Ran was the one who was bullying Mitsuru.

Ran getting revenge against Mitsuru

As revenge, she sends Touma to kill Keigo and mail his head to Ran which traumatizes her. The next day, Ran attempts to attack Mitsuru but is stopped by Chunin instructors. Enraged, Ran accuses Mitsuru of killing Keigo. However, the lack of evidence couldn’t pin Mitsuru as the killer. Mitsuru is comforted by her friends after Ran is sedated and taken away to the hospital.  A week later, Mitsuru runs into Ran who takes her to a private alleyway. Mitsuru senses that there are people hiding ready to ambush her so she signals Yori to film from a distance. With high suspicion that Mitsuru is guilty, Ran threatens to make Mitsuru’s life hell until she confesses, but Mitsuru kept refuting that she had any

involvement. The group comes out and beats down Mitsuru until she begins bleeding. Ran flees with the group leaving Mitsuru lying on the ground before she gets up and returns home. Alarmed at her appearance, Haru, Touma, and Saiji ran to Mitsuru’s aid. While she is healed, Yori reveals that Ran had beaten her for Keigo’s supposed murder. The next morning, Haru and Mitsuru meet with the head of the Konoha Academy to report Ran’s acts. Ran is caught and kicked out of the Academy before she throws a fit. Unsatisfied with revenge, Mitsuru sends a shadow clone to follow Ran home and blow up her house, killing Ran and her parents. The evidence was tampered to look like an accident due to a faulty gas leak.

Moonlight Paradise Arc[]

Overtime, Itsuki notices that many Suzuhime assassins began quitting their titles due to the weakening of the Suzuhime neutrality as the Allied Shinobi Force nearly bonded most of the land’s nations. She then persuades and brainwashes the former assassins to join her organization “Moonlight Paradise” and celebrate “paradise and fantasy in the darkness” by forcing them to pursue their immoral desires. To test out the obedience of her cult, she sends them to burn down a village and pillage the civilians in the Land of Water. She then adopts the name “Luna” when acting as the leader of Midnight Paradise.

Graduation Exams Arc[]

Mitsuru is seen taking the Graduation Exams. She was suspected of intentionally attempting to fail her classmates. Eventually, she was allowed to pass after proving that she was innocent. After graduating from the Academy, she is assigned to a Genin team with Miyuki and Satoshi Akita led by Kazuo Inoue. Haru also modifies Mitsuru’s arm with Shinobi Ware.

Model Escorting Mission: Kiri to Konoha[]

Team Kazuo is assigned a mission to escort Kiku, a model, from Kirigakure to Konoha. Leaving Kiri, Kazuo notices that they are being followed by the model’s harassers. The team manages to fend off the group once Mitsuru unlocked her Nisekissui. Kazuo confronts Haru who asks Kazuo to watch over Mitsuru while also aiding in Haru’s research of the Nisekissui.

Cinderella Arc[]

Mitsuru is sent to Konoha’s modeling industry to uncover a hidden spy planning to ransack the upcoming Cinderella Ball in two days. She pretends to join as a trainee model using Rika’s connections. Entering the building, Mitsuru introduces herself and meets her mentor Sayuri and the rest of the models. She also reunites with Kiku who pretended not to know who the young ninja was. Sayuri warmly greets Mitsuru and takes her on a tour. Excusing herself to use the restroom, Mitsuru attempts to chase after a shadow figure who led her to a model’s dressing room and eavesdrops on a conversation involving a drug business before attempting to escape. However, Sayuri catches Mitsuru and helps her back to the main lot. Mitsuru praises Sayuri in an attempt to appeal to her, but Sayuri orders Mitsuru to bring her water. Returning from the kitchen, Mitsuru is tripped by Sayuri who pretends it was an accident and spills the water on Nino's shoes. Nino kicks and pours water over Mitsuru before Shion interrupts the two. He helps Mitsuru stand, which angers Nino, and invites her to eat with him.

The next day, Mitsuru experiences disgust and bullying from the other models. She later follows Kiku who meets with Sayuri and Nino and realizes that they had spread rumors about her and plan to blame Mitsuru for a stunt. Before Mitsuru could further eavesdrop, Shion invites Mitsuru to the garden, where Mitsuru begins developing an interest in him.

The next day, Mitsuru kidnaps Nino and brings her and Kiku to a warehouse. Nino begins taunting Mitsuru before indirectly insulting Kiku, causing the two to fight. Mitsuru quickly leaves the two and meets Shion waiting outside her dressing room. Shion seduces and attempts to kiss Mitsuru before Sayuri alerts Shion that his manager is looking for him. Sayuri cheerfully praises Mitsuru for her hard work before locking Mitsuru in the dressing room preventing her from going to the party. During the party, Rika notices Mitsuru’s disappearance and unlocks her door before helping her dress and learning about her mission. After Mitsuru confronts Sayuri about her plans, Sayuri denies her accusations and reveals that Kiku had killed Nino planning to frame her murder on Mitsuru. Before Rika could alert the police, Shion announces Mitsuru as his “Cinderella” and gives her a roofied drink. Once Mitsuru became impaired, Shion summons his henchmen and sets off an explosion in the building. He reveals to the half-conscious Mitsuru that he needed to hinder her from ruining his plans to capture the models into a trafficking business. Rika uses Wind Release to ward off Shion’s men unbeknownst to Shion that Rika was also a kunoichi. Mitsuru jumps on Shion to prevent his escape, and the two disappear from Mitsuru’s Body Flicker Technique before the police arrive. Kiku and Sayuri are arrested for Nino’s death and involvement in the drug business, respectively. Mitsuru had taken Shion to a nearby forest where she imprisoned him in a weak genjutsu. After regaining her strength, she brainwashed him into joining Moonlight Paradise as the leader of the recruitment team.

Jack and the Beanstalk[]

Months later, Itsuki is requested to fill in as a Tanigakure shinobi for Sunagakure’s Chunin Exams. She joins a team with Hisato and Sunako, and they pass. The two then befriended Itsuki and were willing to work with her regardless of any task.

Passing by the TV, Mitsuru spots a program showing a new white gold diamond

Itsuki boruto

on display in Kumogakure. She becomes interested in the diamond and wants one for herself. However, it is shown to be very expensive and nearly unobtainable. Mitsuru then decides to steal the diamond herself and recruits Hisato and Sunako. They arrive at Kumo and replace the diamond with a fake replica. Hisato and Sunako noticed Itsuki’s fondness for ornaments, and they each gave her a gift after deciding to spend time together at a shopping district. Hisato gave her earrings, while Sunako gave her a necklace. Itsuki reveals to them that she doesn’t have ear piercings but appreciates Hisato’s gift. The two then pierce her ears later that night. Mitsuru returns to the Fukushima residence to spar with Haru, and Haru notices her earring immediately. She tenses up and prepares to be scolded, but instead, he states that it looked nice on her. Relieved, she continued to train with him.

Mitsuru soon spirals into an addiction to robbery and theft. She only commits crimes as Itsuki, but the stolen items are brought back to Konoha and stored in her bedroom. When questioned about the items, Mitsuru lies that they're all fake replicas.

Pinocchio Arc[]

During one mission, Mitsuru is chased down by several bandits and their leader, Nanami, an S-ranked criminal. Having little chakra and little chance to escape, Mitsuru resorts to activating her Nisekissui, unlocking her second transformation and becoming determined to kill the entire team. Mitsuru tortures Nanami to her death and laughs hysterically until her Nisekissui is deactivated. She immediately returns to the Hokage's office to report the results of her mission. However, she lies that when she encountered the S-ranked group of bandits, she witnessed a shinobi who had interfered and wiped the whole group while Mitsuru assisted. The Hokage reassigns the mission as an A rank and stamps her record.

Later that night, Mitsuru confronts Haru about her uncontrollable rage. He admits to her that the Nisekissui is meant for unimaginable power at the price of sanity and morals. He also shows her that he had to use others for his own benefit. Mitsuru notes that it’s the first time she saw Haru as evil.

Rapunzel Arc[]

At the entrance of the Suzuhime Hideout, Itsuki witnesses Eiji Amami organizing to move his family to Sunagakure. She intervenes and tries to persuade Eiji into joining Moonlight Paradise, but he refuses. Itsuki convinces him that she likes him, and they begin to date to distract Eiji from leaving. However, Eiji saw past her intentions and only pretended to like Itsuki to divert her attention from his family. Their relationship appeared to be very unhealthy. Itsuki endures Eiji’s belittling and abusive attitude, but she admits that she feels miserable.

Mitsuru had fallen sick due to overworking herself. Confronting her, Touma advises her to rest and implies that he considered leaving Moonlight Paradise. Breaking her facade, she smashes a glass vase and complains that she wasn't good enough to make Haru proud. He wipes her tears before Touma expresses his concern regarding Eiji. Mitsuru also realizes that Eiji was using her and planned to get revenge.

Recovering from her fever, Itsuki brings Eiji to Moonlight Paradise to join their next mission. Itsuki, as Luna, commands the First Division to infiltrate an insane asylum located in the Land of Fire and recruit as many as they can capture. Eiji witnesses Itsuki’s horrid nature and attempts to kill her. As the members of Moonlight Paradise continued their mission, Itsuki and Eiji fought before Eiji fell into Itsuki’s Himomai. Eiji is brought back as a prisoner and tortured until his sanity broke causing him to willingly join her organization.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears[]

Due to the increasing members of Moonlight Paradise, Luna plans to seek land to build her kingdom and sends Division leaders to capture different areas of the map. In the West Village, Ayato and Eiji create panic within a small village and block them from leaving, causing the village to collapse. Ayato also burns down the surrounding towns to avoid news of destroyed villages to spread. In the North Village, Sunako and Shiya gather a group of mistreated and ostracised victims to torment their abusers. • (To Moka and Nuriha) “What? I’m fair. If anyone wronged me, then everyone would suffer the punishment.”
  • (To Nobuyuki) “I don’t actually think that I’ll be able to keep this facade forever. One day, everyone will know how much of a liar I am, and they’ll most likely want to stop being friends with me… But I don’t care. I’ll have fun messing with everything hehe~”

  • (Catching people acting two-faced) “What’s wrong? Scared to show your true face to others? Why not embrace it and show it to everyone?... That side of you must be so awful. I bet that no one will ever love you. Hehe~ Now, now. Don’t direct your sad, lonely life towards me. They’re yours, not mine. After all, it’s your fault you’re unloved, you know. You’re just a freak of nature. You were born to be a laughing stock.”

We grew up together, so of course, I would know what they’re like. But they have no idea who I really am. But even so, they all piss me off… so much that I now hate ‘prodigies’ and the ‘naturally talented.’ And whaddya know? Lots of them are just like that.”
