Mirai Reini (れい二未来, Reini Mirai) is a jonin kunoichi of Konohagakure. She is a member of the Reini Clan, and Team Seventeen.
Mizumi Reini, lived in her Clan’s town, The Village of the Three Moons, when she gave birth to her twin children Mirai and Yuu. No one knew who had fathered the two children and Mizumi never wanted to reveal it. She had travelled with her father Nobur to Kaze few times for some business and had met a man there, during the Third Shinobi War.
Mirai was the older sibling for a matter of minutes but always acted as an older sister. She had a very close relationship with her brother, so intense that they were able to predict each other’s thoughts. Because of this special bond Mirai knew how her brother approached the world. He was a very reserved person, calm and serious, interested in books and learning. Though he didn’t love to interact with other’s he had an extremely kind nature and people loved to be in his company.
Mirai was quite the opposite of her brother, cheerful, extroverted, always ready for a new adventure or starting some mischief. She liked to interact with people and she felt it to be her responsibility to do it also for her brother. They bond grew stronger over the years since they completed and dependent on each other.
Mizumi provided her children with a wide range of ‘fathers’, for a total of thirteen. She wasn’t able to settle on one because of her liberal spirit and no one ever really suited to be her kids’ father. She would meet her lovers besides the Clan borders because strangers weren’t allowed in the town.
The Clan wasn’t pleased with her behaviour but since she already had children, that would continue the clan’s bloodline, they let her do.
Mirai and Yuu grew in accordance to the Clans’s tradition training as shinobi and developing their Clan’s Kekkei Genkai, the Dark Soul Release.
First of all it was vital to do a pact with a specific demon, which received the contractors soul after his death as a payment for his service, and those of other demons to him related. After learning the basic summon technique, that was the speciality of the Reini Clan, the only way to make this powers stronger was to practice.
Their childhood passed quite uneventful until the day one of their mother’s lovers, mad at Mizumi for leaving him, managed to sneak in the Village of the Three Moons and set fire to her house. At that moment the only ones inside the house were Yuu and Mirai. As they noticed the fire they started running out of the house but a burning beam hit Mirai, knocking her out and marking her with a scar on her face and burns on her left arm.
When Mirai woke up in the hospital few days later she came to realise that she was given a second chance.

Few years later, as Yuu and Mirai reached the age of nine they were given a chance to leave the Clan and live in the “World Outside”. It was a common tradition of the Clan to let their members live outside the Clan but this was allowed only if they left the Clan when they were nine. The Clan thought that establishing the age allowance so low would discourage people from leaving the Clan because as children they would have a hard time on their own.
Yuu being scared of the world outside refused instantly but Mirai, with big sufferance decided otherwise. She wanted to see the world outside and find her father.
Mizumi was unhappy of her decision and hoping to change her mind she said she would never reveal her who her father was. This didn’t affect Mirai’s decision. She wanted to go.
Before her departure, her grandfather confided her that he was certain that her father was a shinobi from Konoha.
Mirai started her journey towards the Land of Fire that revealed itself to not be very easy. After few days of travelling, because of her inexperience of the outside world she got mobbed and robbed. Fortunately, Mizumi send a message to Rai Reini, another member of the Clan, (who lived in the ‘outside’ world) and requested him to escort Mirai at least through the Land of Wind.
As Rai and Mirai travelled he told her about the world outside and taught her how to use some new tecniques.
Once reached the Land of Rivers they came across Zero, a wolf, with a harsh character but also a deep knowledge of many shinobi techniques. Mirai was fascinated by Zero, and even if he insisted to be left alone she followed him with decision because she wanted him to became her master and teach her everything about the ninja practices. After all the fluttering things Mirai said about him and his abilities Zero decided to take her in and took her to the Mori no Me, the secret village of the Wolfs.
Mirai's plan was to became a skilled ninja so she could impress her father once she found him.
Mirai stayed at the Mori no Me constantly training to become a ninja. In the meantime she also trained the Dark Soul Release on her own, sometimes helped by Rai that she meets in the small town of Tani. There Mirai was introduced to an old friend of Rai, Mariko Egami, an ex-con and shinobi that owned a shop of contraband ninja equipment. Mirai and Mariko became good friends and Mariko teached her how to create new jutsus. She liked spending time at the shop because it’s magical atmosphere reminded her of her mother’s shop and made her feel more at home.
Mirai also found a new passion and started working on it trying to combine her knowledge about what Zero teached her, what she knew about the Dark Soul Release and her new techniques.
Zero and Mirai grow fond of each other even if he would never admit he was affectionate to the girl. She starts to call him Uncle Zero.
Nearly a year passed passed and Mirai finally decided to proceed with her journey towards Konoha, accompanied by a concerned Zero.
Once reached Konoha, Mirai started looking around for her father. She heard stories about the Fourth Hokage and his skills and she was enchanted by him, hoping to find in him her real father.
While wandering around the village she comes across Danzo that immediately recognized in her a Reini. Mirai of course displayed her Clan Symbol and tattoo so to let 'her father know who she descends from'.
Danzo had heard about the particular skills of the Reini Clan and since he never encountered one before he decides to propose Mirai a place in the Anbu squad. Mirai accepted when she discovered that being in that team she could have access to reserved files about ninjas and this way she could see who was where during the Third Shinobi War when she and her brother were conceived.

But Danzo didn't know that besides Mirai's sure of herself appearance and the 'good' name of her clan she didn’t have any actual mission experience and a sensitive physical weakness. In fact even if she trained hardly she still had problems with controlling her chakra that did't allow her to power up all the jutsu she knew.
Mirai had a hard time during her Anbu missions getting away at the last moment with a lot of luck. Eventually Mirai endedup in a mission with Itachi Uchiha.She was from the first moment fascinated by him, and he reminded her of her brother's character.
Mirai and Itachi share different missions, during which she grew always more fond of him till obsession. Itachi found a friendly ear in Mirai and enjoed her company because she seemed to understand his reflexive way of being, but he hadno more intense feelings for her.
Mirai didn’t believe in revenge or war and once Itachi killed all the members of his Clan she was very disappointed in him.
She stayed in the Anbu for another few months but her research did not bring to any result. Danzo was clearly disappointed by her performance and realises that she didn’t have any special ability and when she decided to leave he has no objections.
Team Seventeen
With her father is still a mystery, the boy she was in love with becoming a Nukenin she has no one to turn to and started doubting in her “mission”. She wondered what to do next, if return with Zero to the Mori no Me or take a bigger step and go back home. She missed her family, she wasn’t any closer to find her father, and life was turning quite hard on her. She had always dreamed of adventure, but not having someone to live it with was quite disappointing. Mirai had Zero with her but it wasn’t enough since he couldn’t be with her the whole time. She wished she had her brother with her.
Before eventually leaving she walked around Konoha trying to find a sign and as she visited the Academy and she discovers that there was a Team in need of a third member.
That was her sign, and so she decided to give Konoha another shot.
She encountered Team Seventeen and discovered that it’s members, Shin Kasumi and Namiko Shizuka were nearly her same age. Amy, the former third member of the Team had suffered a mental breakdown and abandoned the Team leaving a vacant place. Ryukaku Inoue, the Team Leader wasn’t very convinced about Mirai at first, being afraid she would end up as the precedent girl, but when she revealed to him her recent ‘employment’ and the true reason of accepting it, he found her taught and as possible competitor for Shin and Namiko, so to spur them to improve.
Mirai got to know her teammates well and developed strong bonds with them. Mirai and Shin became very competitive over everything, but never managing to prove who is stronger. Shin had physical strength and techniques by his side while Mirai was very smart and managed to turn over his attacks. They competitively was much enhanced by Ryukaku sensei that submited his team to continuous trainings and tests for which they received points and rankings. The tests were always different, sometimes they were about team work, other times they were about solo missions, or even on how much they were willing to sacrifice for a mission/assignment.
Mirai and Namiko’s relationship was much more stable and calm. They enjoyed each other’s company and they became good friends, to the point that they reveal to each other things that no one knew.
Personality[]
Mirai and Zero
Mirai is a basically cheerful person but she has many contrasting
personality traits. She has never been very serious, when she was a
child she was a day dreamer, trait that she slightly grew up of but
still has. She is honest, sometimes brutally, in fact she always speaks
her mind. This is because she believes that it’s better not hide the
truth because when in the end it comes out it can complicate things.
Mirai very much enjoys horror and fear, not in a bad way, but because it stimulates adrenaline feelings in her. She has her personal moral code.
She is very loyal to people who have earned her trust and respect, in fact she can be very rude to people who haven’t and pretend her loyalty. She has also her own interpretation of the world that can result in making her look like a weirdo.
Besides the horror stories she likes to tell silly and stupid jokes. She has a very strange habit: she always thinks aloud and she can became very embarrassing in this moments. Since she discovered the relationship between her teammates, both males, she became a yaoi fangirl (boyxboy love) and she sees sign of yaoi everywhere even if there aren’t any.

As well as playing tricks to others she likes to invent new strange jutsu that usually she can’t use. When she is into one of her experiments she is so involved that she doesn’t notice any danger and finishes wounded many times. Mirai is also a stalker and she can give people a creepy impression.
Her biggest dream is to became a great kunoichi to prove that also girls can be strong. When someone says that girls are weak she becomes very badass, but the strangest thing is that she hates almost all the existing girls because they prove the opposite of what she wants show.She isn’t particularly strong but she is very smart and even if she sometimes seems hopeless she manages to win using tricks or manipulating a situation for her convenience. She is quite lazy and sometimes she becomes bully.
Appearance[]
As other people of her clan she has blue hair and red eyes. Some legends say that the Reini people have demon blood and for this reason their eyes are of that color, but those are just legends.
When she was small she had straight and long hair but after her family death she cut them because they remembered her her mother’s hair. With time they became wavy.
She has a scar that goes from her left eye to the opposite chick. For this reason she is blind by that eye that appears gray. Besides it she has some burnings on her left arm from the fire she was in when she was a child.

She has two tattoos. One on her left arm were is written “Reini” and one on her belly. This one is a triple moon and it’s the sign that she has a contract with demons. The triple moon is known as the symbol of the Reini clan.
Her colors are red and black, and all her clothes are of that color. She always wears a necklace with the kanji of Mirai. This was a present from her mom when she was born.
In the first Naruto she has two outfits. One is the “ceremonial one” that she wears during the final combat during the chunin exam and in important missions, it consists in a red top, inspired to the ANBU outfit, a red scarf and high boots. Her normal outfit is a long black hooded sweatshirt with incorporated skirt. On the front of it there is the triple moon sign as representation of the Reini clan. Even if she dislikes the clan she likes to use its name to scare people.
During the Shippuden she has different outfits. The most common one is a sort of hooded kimono without the part that should be under the obi. It is black with some red particulars. Her hair, in the years became longer and now they reach nearly her knees.
Her casual outfit is the one that she prefers. She admires a lot the 4th Hokage and in this outfit she steals a bit of his style. She wears long trousers and a sleeveless shirt and on it a coat with “4th Hokage sleeves”.
Then there is the ANBU outfit that is similar to the usual but a bit modified. In fact Mirai isn’t very good at taijustu and tight clothes help her in movements. This under the advice of Gai-sensei.
In the end there are the Akatsuki outfit, that is the normal one, and the war outfit.
Abilities[]
Reini Kekkei Genkai[]
Mirai using the Dark Soul Release
The members of the clan have a special “contract” with the demons (japanese demons, not the tailed beasts). This special Kuchiose no Jutsu is the Kekkei Genkai of the clan and it’s called “Yamiton” or "Dark Soul Release". It permits to the clan members to summon the demons to use them to fight or to be possessed by them and use they powers.When they are possessed by demons they can use their skills, and if the demon has an affinity with a natural element that the shinobi doesn’t have he can use it for a short time.
Example of a Reini possession. If a Reini summons a Jatai demon (the belt of the snake, a demon that uses clothes to kill it’s vitims) and allows it to posses him he can attack the opponent with his own clothes without using seals. Mirai uses this jutsu when she wears her long scarf.

When a Reini member uses for the first time the Yamiton he creates the contract with hell and demons that appears as a tattoo of the triple moon. The Reini clan members are condemned to hell after their death, this is the price of the contract.
Because of the Yamiton the chakra of Reini clan member is black.
Mirai dislikes using the Yamiton and she prefers ninjutsu.
The most powerful Yamiton attacks are “Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai” a summoning of a hundred of demons at once and “Jigoku” that opens the gates of hell and drags there the enemy. The only Reini known that could use this attack was Shiroi Reini the founder of the Reini Clan.
Mirai and her brother Yuu, being twins, are able to use their chackra combined to do more powerful summonings that on their own they wouldn't be able to do.
Ninjutsu[]
Mirai loves to use ninjutsu and she is quite good at it. Thanks to the Yamiton she has affinity with water, wind and lightning release.

She usually uses a combination of water and lightning. During the chunin exam she is attacked by her opponent with water release techniques, so she decides to use the situation for her advantage. She uses “Kanketsusen no Justu”, a geyser wall, to protect herself from the attacks and doing so she fills the whole floor with water. Then she attacks the enemy with a weapon scroll but she misses him. This isn’t a problem because she obtains what she wants. A katana from the scroll sticks on the floor and she uses it for her final technique, standing on the handle she uses “Kaminari no Jutsu” a lightning release, that is quite powerful but uses a lot of chakra and it’s difficult to hit a moving enemy, for this reason instead of hitting the opponent directly she touches the blade and the lightning is released and passes from the metal into the water and reaches the feet of the opponent frying him.
When she fights it usually seems like she doesn’t know what she is doing but in the end she wins and you can notice a scheme in all the fight. She likes to use the surrounding area in the fight as a weapon using it’s benefits.
Space-time Ninjutsu[]
Mirai is a big fan of the fourth Hokage and loves his space-time ninjutsu. With years she trains this technique.However she isn’t able to complete it. She can teleport just around a perimeter of ten meters. Her team mates have the teleport mark on their backs so she can teleport from one to the other during team fights.
Senjutsu and Summoning Techniques[]
Failed Sennin experiment
After Naruto’s and Jiraya’s departure for the three year training she goes back to Mori no Me where Zero teaches her senjutsu. (The art of gatheringnatural energy to aid in her techniques, and also how to enter Sage Mode by gathering natural energy into her body as well).
Thanks to her Yamiton she can summon a kind of Chochinbi, a small wolf yokai that can’t be seen, that carries a magic fire that can be seen floating in the air. The Chochinbi stands on her shoulder and he gathers the natural energy for her. It passes from his body to her. In this way she can move and gather the energy in the same moment.
The bad part of this technique is that she can use it just for 15 minutes and then she can’t use Senjutsu for three hours.
Besides the Yamiton summoning she can summon wolfs from the Mori no Me.
Weapons[]
Reini sign
Mirai is originally left handed but her wounds on the left arm make her weaker. For this reason she prefers distant fights, she uses the space-time ninjutsu to gain distance from her opponent.
In the Shippuden she uses also a katana (given her by her cousin Reika) but she fights with the right hand.
Team Seventeen is first introduced to the main storyline
during the Chunin exams. At the time Shin and Namiko are fourteen years old, while Mirai is already fifteen, and this is their first attempt to pass the exam. The Team already knows the
members of the Gai team as they are from the same year Shin and Namiko
graduated the Academy. There isn’t a very good relationship between the two
teams. Rock Lee is friend to everyone but there is bad blood between Mirai and
TenTen and strange reactions from Shin to anything Neji does or says.
As everyone they are curious about the nine rookies joining
the Exams, and Mirai goes to introduce herself in a rather unorthodox way by
asking Naruto and Sasuke if there are a couple or if their kissing at the
Academy was just occasional.
To pass the first phase of the Chunin Exam Mirai uses a
rather childish trick but not less efficient. Even if with a little bit of
commitment she would have been able to answer the questions, she spends all the
time looking around and observing how other people are trying to fill out their
test. In the meantime what she does is just doodle nonsense on her paper, like
‘Naruto loves Sasuke’ for the big concern of Sasuke himself that is sitting
next to her and is easily able to read her doodling. As the final bell rings
Mirai drops her pencil asking the person sitting next to her if he could pick
it up. This ninja is one of the fake participants that knew that answers and
she spotted him as they came in the room, in fact she sat near him knowing that
in the end, while he was busy picking up her pencil she would switch their
papers and just change the name on his.
Mirai using Kaminari no Jutsu to win the Second Stage
During the second phase of the Exam, both Mirai and Shin are
decided to end up the competition quickly and get to the centre of the zone to
try to beat the record. For their bad luck, while travelling towards the tower,
Namiko, that is a med and sensitive nin, spots strange chakra activity. As he
departs quickly his way, Shin and Mirai join him just when they reach the
clearing where Sakura, Rock Lee, Ino, Shikamaru and Chouji are fighting with
the sound ninjas. Before any of them have the time to intervene Sasuke wakes up
and thanks to the Cursed Seal defeats the Sound Ninjas. Because of his good
heart, and responsibility as a medical-nin Namiko decides to stay with the
other teams of their village to help them and heal their wounds. Mirai comes to
admire Naruto for his strength and courage and supports him in his decision of
becoming Hokage.
Once everyone is all right again, Team Seventeen, departs
again for the tower, being already in possession of both scrolls.
During the selections at the end of the second stage,
Mirai’s adversary is a huge shinobi from the Country of Water, with impressive
chakra amount. The match seems doomed for Mirai since the beginning because of
her physical disadvantage but she surprises everyone by winning. Even if her
opponent continues to attack her in Taijutsu and Water Ninjutsu combos Mirai
thanks to a discrete agility is able to escape almost each attack. The fight
continues in the same way for long minutes and everyone start to think that it
will end when one of the two will get tiered but suddenly Mirai changes her
escaping strategy and randomly attacks her opponent with a weapon scroll. None
of the blades reach him and while he thinks he already won he gives Mirai the
chance to retire in a moment of fake generosity. Mirai planes on the top of a
sword planted in the ground and mocks him with the same proposition. As he gets
angry and gets started to another attack, he doesn’t notice the huge amount of
water, he summoned using his jutsu, that is covering the ground, and before he
can even realise it, Mirai uses a low power Lightning Technique that from the
metal blade of the katana, on which she is safely standing on, reaches the water and consequently her
adversary, knocking him out in a matter of seconds.
Mirai is very excited to be able to get classified for the
Third Phase, because she is eager to test her abilities. She is paired for the
Third phase with Dosu Kinuta.
Konoha Crush[]
In the month she is preparing for the Third Phase she hangs
out with Naruto, trying to help him with his
summoning technique, since she is
inclined by birth to that kind of techniques. She doesn’t spent much time with
her teammates, that are engaged in missions without her, but she notices a
strange behaviour from Namiko in the rare occasions in which they meet. Finally
he revels to her that during the Second Phase, when he felt that abnormal chakra,
he found it familiar because, somehow it remember him her chakra. He didn’t want
to tell her anything before the final exam because he didn’t want to distract
her and that besides he himself didn’t know what that meant. For his surprise
Mirai takes this information very calmly and it actually seems to encourage her
to a more intensive training. In Mirai’s mind, by proving herself to be a
mighty shinobi, she would prove to her father that she was worthy to be
recognized as his daughter, whoever he was.
Team 7 and Team 17 on a random mission together
As the date of the Third Phase approaches Mirai finds
herself without an opponent as Dosu is killed before that day. She is so added
to fight the winner of the match between Shikamaru and Temari. This assessment
makes Mirai even happier as she hopes to fight Shikamaru, because she considers
him the only one that plays her same game, using intelligence rather than
physical abilities. Thought Mirai methods are more messy then Shikamaru’s and she
doesn’t take much time to think, because she rather improvises with smart moves
as she is going.
Mirai never has the chance to fight because of the event
that occur during Sasuke’s and Gaara’s fight that was before her. While Team
Seven is chasing Gaara, Mirai is again distracted when Namiko reveals her that
he is sensing again that same familiar chakra inside the barrier created by the
shinobi of the Sound, where only the Third Hokage and Orochimaru are. From that
moment on, Mirai has proof to suspect that Orochimaru is actually her father.
Search for Tsunade[]
Once again Mirai is in a complicated situation, now that she
suspects that her father is Orochimaru she has no reason to stay at Konoha.
Even if she is aware of it, the bonds she created with her Team and the other
Shiobi of the village are keeping her from deciding. As she waits to decide
someone from her past returns. Mirai and Namiko are walking together as he
sense two very powerful chakra approaching, near the river. Curious they go to
see what is happening and they find Kakashi, Kurenai and Asuma in a fight with
two men wearing black coats.
Mirai instantly recognizes Itachi in one of them.
Overwhelmed by sudden rage, thing that usually doesn’t happen, she attacks him.
Kakashi warns her to stay away because he thinks she is introducing in the
fight just to prove a point. No one besides Namiko knows about her past with
Itachi. As Mirai attacks confusingly Itachi she is intercepted by Kisame that
attacks her. While they are fighting Itachi concentrates again on the three
Jonins starting again his fight with Kakashi. Mirai is in clear disadvantage
and Kisame is going to give her a final hit but Itachi stops him remanding him
that they aren’t there to cause any damage just to inspect. At that point Gai intervenes and the two
nukenin leave.
Team Seventeen resting after a mission
After the fight Mirai talks with Namiko about what happened,
she is very surprised by Itachi actions and how he saved her. She thought that
all that she admired in him was gone, but the goodness she saw in him still
seems to be there. That same day Mirai leaves the Village and goes to the
Village where she knew she would find Jiraiya and Naruto. Once there she discovers
about the fight they had and of Sasuke’s condition. She again doubts of Itachi
but this time she is decided to discover the truth. She chases the two nukenin and as night falls she reaches them. She awaits for Kisame to leave and then approaches Itachi. At
first he refuses to talk to her and tells her to leave before Kisame’s return,
so Mirai does all the talking. For a moment Itachi feels like in the old times
when he spent a long time with Mirai and the way she always understood him. The
secret he has been caring for all that time is a heavy burden, but with whole
conscience he can’t tell even her the truth. However what he tells her gives
her brings her to understand that he is hiding something.
Mirai leaves the forest and goes back to Konoha. Using one
of her old contacts at the Anbu she gets to the archives where after a long
research discovers that there were conflicts between the Uchiha’s and the
Konoha Village. She has no precise idea on what actually happened but she has
reason to believe that what Itachi did had a hidden reason.
This discovering changes everything for Mirai. She belives
again in Itachi and decides to stay at Konoha and put aside the search of her
father. Her new objective is to reunite with Itachi in any possible way. The ‘easiest’
way that she figures is to join the Akatsuki, the only problem is that she
isn’t strong enough.
Time-Skip[]
After Sasuke's treason and Naruto’s departure for his traning
Mirai also leaves Konoha to start an intensive training back in the Country of
Rivers to become worthy of the Akatsuki. She again divides her time between the
Mori no Me, where Zero teaches her the Sennin Mode and the Tani Village where
she uses the help of Rai and Mariko.
In the last Team Seventeen mission, before leaving, she encourages Namiko to reveal to Shin that he is in love with him, and so he does. With his big suprise Shin has the same feeling and they start dating.
During the time-skip Mirai comes back to Konoha sometimes, to visit and also because Team Seventeen joins another Chunin Exam. This time all the team is able to pass and they all become Chunins.
Years later, but before the Shippuden serie Mirai and Shin also do a Jounin exam and they both pass.

Akatsuki Mirai
As Mirai finds herself still in the Country of Rivers she is
requested by the Hokage to join the Kazekage rescue mission since she is closer
to the Country of Wind. Mirai reaches Sunagakure to find the entrance
destroyed, so she follows the trail in the desert. She knows that this might be
her first occasion to impress the Akatsuki so she hides some trails. As Team
Kakashi gets to Sunagakure, her conspiracy is over because Pakkun is able to
find the Akatsuki Hideout anyway. While the team is fighting with the copies of
Itachi and Kisame she reveals to him that she knows the truth.
When Naruto transforms in the Kyuubi chasing Deidara, once
he simulated his destruction by exploding she helps him hide from Team Kakashi.
After that moment Mirai goes back to Konoha. Mirai doesn’t
want to burn her place in normal society so
she convinces the Hokage to give her back her place in the Anbu and so
give her an S mission to go undercover in the Akatsuki. Tsunade at first isn’t convinced that Mirai
has the skills for this kind of mission but Mirai assures her that she has
already been working on her ‘evil’ identity. Restless the Hokage gives her
permission to execute such mission.
Mirai again leaves Konoha and this times she goes back to
the Country of Wind where she reaches her Clan. Once there she asks her family
to help her. Her grandparents are very moved by her gesture, to abandon all her
life just to be with the man she loves, but they aren’t aware that the one she
loves is actually an Uchiha. There have been many problems in the past because
of conflicts between the two Clans.

Her grandparents release a voice that Mirai Reini is
searched for for the murder of five members of the Reini Clan. Mariko Egami,
that in her trade has come across some of the Akatsuki members, specially
Kakuzu and Hidan, puts a ‘good’ word in for her. She presents Mirai as
Orochimaru’s daughter. Once heard of it Pain decides to give her a chance, and
that she can join the Akatsuki if she is able to pass a test: steal
Orochimaru’s ring.
Mirai doesn’t see this as a difficult step after all she has
been through. Even if in the last years she had put at side her quest to find
her father she has kept record of any apparition of Orochimaru, and thanks to
the wolfs, her friends, that have been chasing him she is easily able to find
him. Even if she is aware of where he is hiding she never reveals it to anyone
in Konoha because she feels loyal to him and doesn’t want to put him in
trouble. Even if she is sad for Naruto that is trying with such an effort to
find Sasuke she doesn’t want to interfere.
Once she presents the ring to Pain she is accepted to the
Akatsuki.

Mirai was in love with Itachi from many years and because of
her distorted vision of their relationship she was convinced that he loved her
backwards, (she started thinking so when Itachi saved her from an attack from
Kisame when their visited Konoha after the Third Hokage’s death) thing that was
untrue because he considered her only as a friend. He was devoted to his cause,
to protect the village and Sasuke and he never considered her in that way,
because he excluded any possibility of him having a normal life and normal
relationships.
After joining the Akatsuki, Mirai always kept herself near Itachi. Due to her
distorted vision of their relationship she started having more ‘intimacy’ with
him. She was more affectionate, touching him in every occasion she could, getting
closer. It was a childish way of flirting but it started to occur to Itachi’s
attention what Mirai meant with it. He made it clear to her that there was no
possibility of that kind of relationship between them. Mirai could not accept
to break the disillusion she had lived in for many years, in fact she didn’t
back up, and instead started to be even more ‘aggressive’. She imposed herself
on Itachi more violently and one day while he was sleeping she ended up kissing
him.
Even if Itachi woke up as she approached he didn’t stop her and he pretended
to be asleep for the whole time. He did it because he wanted to
understand if he really didn’t have any romantic feeling for her.
With his surprise he noticed that it didn’t bother him at all. And from that
moment they became actually closer, not only in Mirai’s mind.As said Mirai is always more affectionate towards Itachi not missing a
chance to get close. After their started actually seeing each other,
occasionally when no one could see, Itachi would gently stroke Mirai’s
hair. But he tends to ignore her in front of others.When they are on mission they fight together.
Sometimes
when they manage to get away from the Akatsuki they will spend the time
together not talking just cuddling and looking at each other.
Fated Battle Between Brothers[]

As Itachi’s health gets worse, Mirai knows that the date of
the final battle with Sasuke is getting closer.
Sasuke has already killed her father and now he is going to kill also the only man she ever loved. Mirai doesn’t approve Itachi’s idea of Sasuke getting revenge on the Clan by killing him.
The two of them have a huge fight and Mirai leaves him alone. Once she makes up
her mind and decides to talk to him and ask forgiveness is already too late.
The battle between Sasuke and Itachi is over. And they both lie on the ground
in the remaining of the Uchiha building when she gets there.
Pain's Assault[]
Devastated by Itachi’s death, Mirai leaves the Akatsuki and
returns to Konoha where she spends her days lying in bed. When Pain attacks she
is surprised as everyone and is involved in the massive destruction of Konoha.
She is saved by Katsuyuu and is disoriented by what is happening. She looks for
her teammates and when she finds them Namiko informs her that he can sense
Naruto fighting in the centre of the crater. Mirai respects Naruto’s decision
to fight alone but once Hinata is injured and he starts transforming in the
Kyuubi she jumps in the crater to go help Hinata and get her out of the middle
of the conflict. As she is dragging the girl out the fight between Pain and
Naruto continues and Mirai is wounded on her side by the Kyuubi.
Five Kage Summit[]
After the injury of the Kyuubi Mirai is not recovering very
well so Zero takes her back to the Mori no Me to ensure her a better healing.
Mirai is informed of Sasuke’s fight with Danzo during the Summit of the Five
Kage’s and she decides to not keep a grudge towards him, because he is
suffering as her for Itachi’s loss.
Fourth Shinobi World War: Climax[]

Mirai joins the War as it already is began. She was still
recovering from her wound so she could not join earlier. As she approaches the
field in company of Zero he senses Itachi’s smell. So she follows the trail and discovers that
also Sasuke is chasing him. The trio gets to the cave where Kabuto is hiding.
Mirai helps the Uchiha brothers fight Kabuto using her Sennin mode.
After the battle Mirai finally has the chance to make peace
with Itachi. Before his disappearing he asks them to take care of each other.
Mirai accepts deciding to consider Sasuke as the younger brother she has lost
and being for him the older sister-in-law as she would have been if she had got
the chance to marry Itachi.

When Sasuke resurrects Orochimaru, Mirai finally, after
years of doubts, has the occasion to ask him if he is her father. He tells her
that he has never had any children, but he had once known a Reini woman. He
encountered her in the Country of Wind during the Third War. Mirai has finally
the confirmation that Orochimaru is her father. With this knew satisfaction the
group splits as Team Taka and Orochimaru lead towards Konoha and Mirai goes
towards the main battlefield. Her joy alas does not last long because on her
way she meets Sakura that informs her that Namiko has been killed by a White
Zetsu in an attempt to save Saiko. Mirai shocked about her discovery reaches
Shin to inform him what just happened. The boy destroyed by the lost of his
only love surrenders and decides to fight no more.
Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchūriki[]
As the birth of the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki is imminent Mirai
fights with Madara using all the powers and techniques she has accumulated
through the years.
Mirai's Infinite Tsukuyomi
Madara accepts the challenge as Mirai reminds him of Shiroi
Reini, her ancestor, that years earlier tricked him, so he sees it as an
opportunity to have revenge on her. Mirai of course has no chance with him even
if she manages to keep fighting for a while.
But inevitably Mirai is knocked unconscious and
as Madara is going to give her final hit and killer her she is saved by her
brother, that approaches the war with many other members of the Reini Clan
that join the war and fight at the other shinobi's side.
Mirai recovers in time just to be entrapped in the Infinite
Tsukuyomi as all the others.

The Last: Naruto the Movie[]

Before[]
After the end of the War, the remaining members of Team Seventeen abandoned the Shinobi ways. While Shin decided to leave that life completely behind him buying a Tea House, in partnership with Namiko’s mother, (that was a woman of the Tea House in the past) Ryukaku devoted himself to being a full time father to his newborn child, named Namiko after the savior of Saiko that during the war was already carrying the child. Mirai stayed in Konoha for few months as a teacher at the Academy, but then leaved the Village to return home to the Village of the Three Moons, since already ten years had passed from her departure and she could go back. She also used her time to get to know better her father. Initially Orochimaru couldn’t accept the thought of having a daughter but as he came to know better Mirai he discovered that even if externally she looked like her mother, (besides her pale skin that she inherited from him) in the inside she was very similar to him. Eager to know, to study, discover and experiment the two spend long time creating and perfectioning Jutsus. Mirai also informed him about the existence of her brother Yuu and finally dragged him out of the Clan to meet their father.
During[]
As Mirai’s twenty-first birthday approaches the Reini Clan gives her the most difficult mission she has ever faced: find a husband. She has one year to find and fall in love with a man and to complicate things he must be a member of a Clan. After Itachi’s death she was certain she could never fall in love again but glad to be back at home she decides to follow this rule and respect her Clan’s tradition. Also if she doesn’t find a husband in this time it will be the Clan to choose it for her.
The same rule applays to her brother Yuu. The two depart together.
Preferring to avoid to marry a complete stranger Mirai decides to go visit first the Land of Rivers and then Konoha where all the people she knows are. Her idea is to marry someone she can stand, love isn’t contemplated in the plan.
They arrive at Konoha in time for the Rinne Festival. Mirai thinks she will spent her time excluding people from her list but then Hanabi Hyuga is kidnapped and as the group departs to save her and Mirai and Yuu stay at the village helping to keep the villagers safe.
Together they are able to use they their new Dark Soul Release Technique : Jigoku to open a portal to hell over Konoha while a falling meteor was going to hit the village. The meteor disappears in the lava. None of them is able to use any other Technique due to consuming all of their chakra for that Jutsu.
Yuu then meets a woman of the Hyuuga Clan and falls in love with her and decides to marry her.
Epilogue[]

After the Moon incident Mirai leaves Konoha still without a husband candidate. Her brother has found a wife easily and the time is passing quickly. She decides to go visit her father where she meets again Suigetsu. The two of them discovered to have similar characters and that they had a lot of fun together, mocking others or engaging in strange adventures and also because of their common passion for macabre and animals. Before the end of the year they get married and two years later they have a daughter called Tsuyuu. (Combination of their brother’s names).

Over the years they have some problems because Suigetsu spends a lot of time at Orochimaru's hideouts while Mirai and Tsuyuu live at the Three Moon Village.
To avoid this problem Mirai becomes a diplomat for the Reini
Clan, a point of communication between the Clan and the Five Villages so she can travel a lot and so see her husband. She usually takes her daughter too if she isn't too busy studying.
Five years after Tsuyuu's birth Suigetsu and Mirai have a second child, a son called Hangetsu. Other seven years later they have a third child, another daughter called Miyako. The three siblings are very close and they usually unite againts their parents.

As the group of Naruto, Sasuke, Sarada, Chōchō and Yamato entered Orochimaru's Hideout they found also Mirai greeting them. She was on one of her incursions to the place to see her husband and father. At the moment of the arrival of the group she was in a quarrel with Suigetsu because he was making fun of her again calling her "Obaa-chan" because she is few years older then him.

From the author, about Mary Sues[]
Before you start commenting with "Her story is Mary-Sueish", "She is a Mary Sue and she is always everywere", "She was in the ANBU and then in the Akatsuki? Are you mental?!" let me say something: I invented Mirai based on what happens with Itachi. Basically her pourpose of life is Itachi and the only two f****** places where she could have met him for more then 5 minutes are the ANBU and the Akatsuki. If you notice when Itachi leaves a place she does the same.
She isn't loved by everyone, isn't super powerful, she hasn't got a Byakugan in one eye the Sharingan in the other one and when she blinks three times they evolve in the Rinnegan and suerly she hasn't got a 99999 hundred tailed beast sealed in her a**.
In the order of facts (Does this mean something? Don't know but it sound good) seeing how the manga is evolving (I'm speaking about the new scans, but also the past parts) nearly every character from the Naruto Universe is Mary-Sueish or has his Mary Sue/Gary Stue moment (But don't we love them the same?) so I don't understand the people that go around the Wiki banning as a Mary Sue every character that ends in the Akatsuki or has a special power. I agree that some times it is true but who are we to judge others' work? I agree with constructive comments that can help evolve the character and maybe erase some facts that really seem strange but I can't stand the people that comment just with the "She is a Mary-Sue".
When I end up on a page of a character that seems strange or Mary Sueish I see if eventually I can suggest something but surely I don't feel entitled to criticize that character because I'm not Kishimoto or a famous writer that has the ability and the right to say something about it. If you go and write that someone's character is a Mary Sue I can take you seriously just if you have also a character and when I read his story I can't find any sign of Mary Sueness.
Btw I never noticed someone saying "This guy is a Gary Stue", (maybe it's just a coincidence) but why only the girls are critisized by their stories? Isn't this a bit sexist?
Sorry for this long monologue but I hope you understand what I wanted to say because for me it's something important. I know that Mirai has some Mary Sueish signs but in this case I can't help it because it's necessary for her meetings with Itachi that for me are the base of her story.
And my final words are: What does it metter if some character are Mary Sueish? This is not a contest for a character that will finish in the original Naruto manga, it's just a place where people can share they dreams and stories and if someone wants his/her character to be super magic-beautiful-strong why can't we let him/her be this way? Maybe that poor guy or girl has an awful life and wants to be cool in some place, so who are we to crush these dreams? (As you can understand I'm one of these dreamy people).
