Gekko Garō (餓狼月光, Garō Gekko) is a kunoichi ranked genin of Mangetsugakure and member of team Kyōya. She's the only child of Uriuda Garō and member of the Garō Clan.
Background[]
The legend tells about an infertile woman who conjured the moon to get pregnant and give her husband an heir. Gekko was born as a result of the covenant between her mother and the Moon Goddess.
Personality[]
To compensate for her physical dissimilarity from the rest of the Garō clan, she adopted a deliberately blunt, scruffy, and rude demeanor, attempting to fit in by mimicking the natural behavior of her family.This façade of toughness and aggression made Gekko short-tempered around strangers and distrustful of others.
However, her life took a transformative turn when she encountered Inoue and his team. Through him, Gekko learned it is ok to be herself and gradually shed her defensive exterior, revealing her true nature as a soft-spoken girl with a noble and sweet heart.
For Gekko, love is synonymous with freedom. This belief became evident when she selflessly encouraged Kochi, her partner, to join Inoue's team, even though it meant they might be separated indefinitely. Gekko understood that true love entails supporting and enabling the freedom and growth of others, even if it comes at a personal cost.
Due to the influence of her mother as a priestess of the Gattenshi temple, Gekko developed a deep-rooted sense of superstition. She diligently adheres to the traditions of her people, finding solace and guidance in the rituals and customs passed down through generations. She often visits the temple with Koga.
Appearance[]
The influence of the Moon Goddess, is unmistakable in Gekko's appearance. Unlike her clan members, she possesses distinctly feminine features, with her white hair and gray eyes contrasting starkly with the typical blonde hair and blue eyes of the Garō clan. She does not resemble her mother neither and this physical divergence serves as a constant reminder of her unique origins, which should bring gratitude to her heart as it symbolizes the blessing bestowed upon her by the Moon Goddess but instead worked as a constant reminder that she is different.
In the past, Gekko would adorn her face with war paint during missions, purposefully styling her hair in a disheveled manner to project a fearsome image. However, following her encounters with Team Hitsuke, she underwent a significant transformation. Embracing her newfound sense of self, she abandoned these embellishments, opting for a more natural appearance that aligns with her true personality.
Her updated attire now consists of a sleeveless black bodysuit underneath an open red skirt, held in place by her ninja headband. To protect her legs, she adorns herself with net mesh and retains her trusty black open-toed boots from her previous outfit. This updated ensemble reflects her desire for both practicality and a touch of individuality.
Abilities[]
While Gekko may not possess the same physical strength or speed as her clan members, she compensates for this with significantly larger chakra reserves. Her fighting style relies primarily on her proficiency with kunai and shurikens, as larger weapons prove unwieldy for her. Additionally, she relies on her two ninrō up until she let Kochi go with Inoue and she now fights alongside with Seifū only.
As a Garō, Gekko possess ability to transform into a white werewolf, independent of the lunar phase, enhancing her combat prowess and versatility.
As Gekko embarked on her journey of self-acceptance and inner peace, the natural energy of the moon within her began to grow in power. In a harmonious convergence, her internal lunar energy became attuned to the external power of the moon itself, allowing her to develop the lunar senjutsu called Jitsugetsu.
Gekko's Jitsugetsu enables her to synchronize with the lunar phases, harnessing their influence to enhance her capabilities. As the moon waxes and wanes, Gekko's power fluctuates accordingly, granting her distinct perks depending on the phase.
