Flame Scrolls (炎巻物, Honō Makimono) are a special type of scroll utilized by Kotarō Shimura that has a Fire Release technique sealed within it. By forming a half tiger hand seal, the technique is released from the scroll. This fire can be combined with the oil from an Oil Scroll in order to create a roaring inferno that is capable of completely incinerating a target. Kotarō also keeps a scroll within the hidden compartment of his Gishu and opening this secret compartment, he is capable of unleashing a blast of fire as a surprise attack.
The scrolls themselves are red in color, smaller then normal scrolls and contain the character for "Flame" (炎) written on them.
