The Qi of Yin (陰氣, Literally meaning: Yin Qi, Meaning: Qi of Yin) is the kekkei genkai of the Mizukino clan, originating from the Yami clan. It is one of the two original Qi forms from which the others evolved and the one with the least users.
Overview[]
The Qi of Yin is a Qi type that is at its strongest at night. Through the absorption of moonlight or the consumption of moonflowers, the flow of Qi in the wielder's body starkly increases. The enhanced power and amount of Qi is usually visible in the user's eyes as their irises begin to glow in a light purple colour and the colour of their Qi will turn white.
Generally, the Qi of Yin comes naturally to a Qi user who has been trained in controlling their Qi, though different techniques and how to use all nature transformation types have to be learned and practised individually.
Abilities[]
The Qi of Yin grants its wielders the general ability to grow in strength and speed during the night. The most common power boost starkly increases the sensitivity of the wielder's hearing and feeling senses, which get so sensitive they can track down the location of another person just by their movements even at a distance and it also allows them to predict how they will move. It also allows the use of all 5 types of Qi transformation. Users of the Qi of Yin have shown to be completely unaffected by the Mugen Tsukuyomi.
Variations[]
The Qi of Yin is a very flexible Qi type that can be used in a plethora of ways. Most wielders use it for the enhanced speed and power of qijutsu. Other variations include:
Dimensional Ninqijutsu[]
Dimensional Qijutsu can transport huge amounts of mass, even entire countries or continents, if strong enough, to another dimension or another location on the globe. This requires incredible control and reserves of Qi that only Yogen Mizukino had during her time. For the use of an interdimensional jutsu, Nami Mizukino required the assistance of all 6 lords, various members of the Uchiha clan and the scroll wherein some of Yogen's Qi had been sealed centuries prior. Nonetheless, she still used all of her own Qi and died shortly after the use of the jutsu.
Weather Transformation[]
Making use of the Qi of Yin in qijutsu, its wielder is able to change the weather conditions in a small area around them. It's commonly used in combination with the wind or storm Qi nature. Takahiro and Taro Mizukino are unrivalled in the weather transformation style.
Terrain Transformation[]
Similarly to the weather transformation, terrain transformation is a way to use Qi in qijutsu, but it requires large amounts of it to work. Terrain transformation allows for the user to shape the terrain like raising a hill, growing a tree or creating a lake. This isn't entirely unique to the Qi of Yin as terrain tranformation is also used by Desert Qi users. It's not something that anyone uses regularly because it has little point but in some cases it can be rather practical.
Blind Fighter Technique[]
The increased senses of the Qi of Yin can be used to hear and feel the presence of people and the prediction of an opponent's movements, which is a very effective fighting style for taijutsu or nintaijutsu fighters. When used like this, it's easiest to keep one's eyes closed to be able to focus better on sounds, vibrations and gusts of wind that the opponent is making. This was Akira Mizukino's signature fighting style during her time as a chunin, before her fighting style became more ninjutsu/qijutsu heavy.
Moon Crystal Dust[]
Emiko Mizukino commonly uses moon crystals as a shield or weapon. The crystals react strongly to the use of Yin Qi, acting similarly to Gaara's sand, as they react to the sub-conscience and emotions of the user. Emiko can change the shape and consistency of the crystals as well as being able to grind them to dust. Through the use of the earth release, the dust can return to its crystal state.
